Winterschlaf describes a state of being during the dark winter months.
The photographs celebrate the light and warmth available in the winter, as well as recognising their absence.
During hibernation animals adapt to the lack of resources, subsisting off what was gained in the summer.
Summer and winter are opposing, creating a balance of abundance and scarcity.
Therefore the book not only offers images of the winter, but also a small memory of the summer.

- a metaphorical nut for the winter.
