Ceramics

All my ceramics are handbuilt, using simple tools, molds and my hands only. This approach of minimalism is also reflected in the form and finishing of the pieces.

To strengthen the material’s connection to earth, the outside of my pieces are often left raw and/or decorated with natural earth pigments and clay slips. The pigments are collected locally in Devon and then prepared in my studio. This results in the work being ‘imperfect’ and rather rough to touch, but also offering great tactility.

They are simple but functional vessels, built to hold something.
